Mammoth July 19th 2008
Wow!!!!!!!!Sooooooo much to tell! What a day and evening! Well, Rick and Brad got here about 1am this morning, so I just couldn't believe they were going to ride! Saw another Coyote on the way to the gondola this morning, was just incredible.
Oh before I start, I was corrected a million times on the trail I THOUGHT Huck was going to take us on. It was NOT Bullet, but is was Shotgun. Bullet, Shotgun, someone always has a gun.....WHATEVAH!!!!!!! I just couldn't remember. Anyways, we rode Shotgun, NOT bullet. I won't mention any names who already new I didn't ride that and just made an error in the trail names, but I wanted to set it straight exactly what we rode.
I am pretty wiped out, so I am just going to give you the basics today. (ok, u know me, maybe a little more than da basics and some good trash talk!)
The whole group today started out on a Skid Marks which was just soooooooo much fun. I would prefer not to warm up on a black diamond, but shoot, I was covered with armor from head to toe, so what the !@#$%^&* right? Oh yeah, Leah....I finally rode the stairs at McCoy station, so you would be proud of me! Leah has been riding those every year and I just wait at the bottom secretly snarling at her! Not anymore! Susan even got it on video!
So I got some incredible video of the entire group on some gnarly switchbacks I will post when I get back. Then we went to Lincoln Express, and to watch Rick and Brad do this really really sick, messed up so called trail on Bullet. Wow!!! That footage will go up on utube! I am soooooooo proud of them! They are just incredible to watch, all though I do worry about them when I watch that sick stuff they do! Yikes you guys!!!! Take another hit off that.............kidding, I know it's all skill and pure balls!!
So we all had lunch together at the Mammoth restaurant there and went back up. We did so many different trails. Everyone tried to avoid the trails with any pedaling because I brought my Jamis which is 43 pounds and I really, really struggled with it. I don't think the girls want me to bring that anymore! But thank you every one for being so sensitive towards that!
Susan and Charlotte were just stars again today! Pinky Tuscadero(Susan!), rode all of 7 bridges without stopping! (you wench u!) And Charlotte rode every single bridge too! (another wench I will have to kick off the next cliff!) Giggles, just kidding ladies............not!
The other stars were to every single rider! Huck! Wow! I can't believe what a smooth rider you have become and outstanding technical turner! Norm! Always outstanding! Bob rode like he was in his 20's again! Jim H was outstanding and was nice enough to hang with the girls most of the day. Rick and Brad.........what can I say?! We are thankful you spent the time with us today, and really dig watching you both. You are truly nutcases!
Oh and the star girl...Wendi! Wow, this girl really rocks. Very impressed and I know she could have just hung with the guys the whole trip, but she stayed with us every single ride! Thank you!
1 embarrasing moment for me, I was getting my bike off the shuttle and some guy comes up to me and says, Hey, you're that girl who had that gnarly crash in Santa Ynez, I saw that! You ok?
OMG! I was just horrified! I really wanted to just run, but of course, I was very polite and blew him off just like a lady! Kidding!!!! Of course I was nice u silly people!
Ok, some did 1 last run, Jim H, myself, Wendi and Susan went back to the condo and another Coyote!
Then we split up for the first part of the night. Some went to the hot springs, some hung out at the condo, then myself, Huck, Bob, Hugh, Rick and Brad went to Perrys for dinner. Then we all gathered at the condo for desert and Rick brought the latest mountain bike dvd's in the Roam series and we watched that. A truly lovely way to end the evening.
Except for silly pics of lunch and dinner, I took all videos today which you all will see up on the site and on Utube in the next few weeks,so no pics tonight.
Tomorrow is the last day for all of us, so some are hiking, some are riding. I will probably just do a couple of runs with Charlotte and da boys, then we need to get back and pack. Will probably leave around 3pmish.
So, that is everything for now. So far, it has been an amazing trip as always and I have really, really enjoyed spending so much time with my closets of friends who I adore so very much.
I will do 1 last blog when I get home Sunday evening. Thank you all for all your email responses and I am thrilled you are enjoying the blog.
As always...be fabulous dahlings!!!
Wendy!
