Mammoth Day 1 July 18th 2008

Yes!!!!!!!!!! I am back at the condo in 1 piece!!!!!!! I stayed ON my bike for every single run!! Whopptie doooooo!!

Unfortunatley,not so good for poor Hugh. Hugh came in yesterday and rode. He was riding back to his hotel on the streets and his brakes gave out. He is lucky he only broke his wrist! So Hugh is done for this trip, but will be joining us at the big dinner tonight.

The weather is perfect so far. At the very top it was 58 degrees with hardly any wind at all. The mid section got really warm, especially with full armor on.

Sooooooo, thank goodness that was it for injuries today!! We started off with Off the Top, probaly my favorite trail in Mammoth until it reaches Beach Cruier. I took my Jamis this time, so needless to say I really, really struggled pedaling and climbing which was a lot. My riding today was just really cautious and slow. I was still really nervous from my last crash and just couldn't seem to get a good flow or relax at all. I rode everything on all the trails we did, but just really, really slow.
Then we started on break through and just crossed a ton of trails until we got to the village for lunch. It was a long run but really fun!

We then had planned to ride Skid Marks to Lincoln to lower flow to Shot gun but Skid Marks and Lincoln Express were closed! Soooo, we went to Brake through again, a tiny part of flow, (Huck Norm and Bob starting at the top), then we did Shot gun, my 2nd black I have done, that was freekin awesome! The drops were more like mogels and they all could be rolled, so I wasn't scared and did pretty darn good, went slow of course, but did good. Then we just rode all the way down to the village again. Most of us were pretty tired, so all but Huck, Bob and Norm came back to the condo, showered and went to the store. Huck and Bob are struggling with their leg armor bruising them a lot.

I have to give big huge cudos to Charlotte and Susan! These 2 gurls were different riders today! It must have been Leah's high powered armor and that hot pink top that Susan wore! Nah..........it was all Susan today! She was pinky tuscadero riding all every single turn and switch back (bitch), and was just amazing with her speed and technical skills.

Charlotte: Where is Charlotte and what have u done with her? OMG WOMAN!!! Charlotte just absolutely cranked today. I've never seen her smile soooo much! She was fast, consistent and rode everything!! U DA WOMAN!

Wendi: What can I say? I didn't see u that much because you are just too fast downhill. You always rock.

Everyone else, Norm, Huck and Jim, as always, awesome riding!

Soooooo, tonight, at 7pm, just like every year, we are having a carb load up dinner party. I am making veggie linguini, we have different breads, salads, cheesecake and lots of wine, all red of course, no.....i had nothing to do with that!

So, I may or may not blog after the dinner this evening. We are still waiting to hear from Rick and Brad, they keep changing their minds, so maybe we will bump into them on the mountain tomorrow!

Ok loves, gotta go start the dinner, have lots of veggies to chop and I have my name on a glass of Chianti just waiting for me!
